COVENTRY CITY OF CULTURE

2021 - 2022

As part of The Show Windows, Charlie Levine led a project that invited artists, designers, architects, and makers to transform Coventry city centre, as part of Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, Sharon was invited to create a large-scale installation in the window of the Belgrade Theatre. Special thanks to Matt Foster for supporting this project. 

Calling upon themes of peace and tranquillity, Sharon drew inspiration from woodland area in her local West London suburbs, affectionately named the 'Friendly Forest' by her young daughter. Like many, Sharon and her family sought adventure in their local neighbourhoods, amidst the height of the pandemic. This hidden space amongst the trees offered a sense of harmony - a suburban sanctuary that she was determined to bring to this project.

Coinciding with the opening of the Turner Prize at the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum in Coventry, Sharon's work remained on display in the window of the Belgrade Theatre through to early October.
